High-speed networks are available only in limited areas; no Bluetooth or infrared port; hefty.

The VX8000 offers an admirable combination of features and performance. Before you jump onboard, though, make sure Verizon's EV-DO network is available in your area.

Verizon users seeking a megapixel cameraphone should flock to the VX8000 for its hearty feel, sharp shots and clear calls, but not the VCAST video-entertainment service.

Excellent camera, screen, and keypad. Good battery life. Lots of memory for photos and games.

Vcast service isn't compelling. No e-mail, Web browser or Bluetooth.
