Epson Powerlite 1781W Projector review

Slimline design and great image quality make this a must-have.

Light and slim design ; Great image quality ; Wi-Fi connectivity ; Wireless connections

No Bluetooth connectivity ; Weak speakers

Small and light, yet incredibly powerful - the Epson 1781W is a highly portable business projector that combines simple setup with great usability. With projectors now a common sight in homes and businesses these days, the need for an affordable and...

Epson PowerLite 580 XGA 3LCD Projector

The Epson PowerLite 580 XGA 3LCD Projector offers a 1,024-by-768 native resolution and an ultra-short throw that delivers a bright, high-quality, big image from only inches away from the screen.

Ultra-short throw. Bright. Excellent quality for data images. XGA (1,024-by-768) native resolution. Wall mount included.

No 3D support. Harder than much of the competition to set up on a flat surface below the screen.

Conclusion For an ultra-short-throw projector that supports 3D, consider a DLP model like the Dell S510n Projector . If WXGA is a better resolution for the images you need to show, the Epson 585W is your best bet. However, the Epson PowerLite 580 XGA...

Epson Home Cinema 3000

The Epson Home Cinema 3000 projector lacks an audio system, which is more common for home theater than home entertainment projectors, but it delivers a high-quality image that can stand up to ambient light.

Vertical and horizontal lens shift. 1.6x zoom. 1080p resolution. Accepts 3D signals from video devices like Blu-ray players and cable TV.

Minor image-quality issues on particularly demanding scenes. Long lag time. No speakers. No audio-out port.

If you're looking for a projector for gaming, you'll be better off with one like the Optoma GT1080, with a shorter lag time. If games aren't a concern, but you plan to watch 3D material, be sure to consider the Epson 3500. It may wind up being less...

Epson PowerLite 1980WU WUXGA 3LCD Projector

The Epson PowerLite 1980WU WUXGA 3LCD Projector offers excellent image quality, high resolution, and a bright enough image for a midsize to large room.

High-quality images for both data and video. Rated at 4,400 lumens. 1,920-by-1,200 resolution. 1.6x zoom lens.

Lacks 3D support.

If you can do without lens shift and other more sophisticated features, however, and are simply looking for a capable high-resolution projector, the Epson PowerLite 1980WU WUXGA 3LCD Projector can be an excellent fit. It delivers a little higher...

Epson PowerLite Home Cinema 5030UBe 2D/3D 1080p 3LCD Projector

The feature-packed Epson PowerLite Home Cinema 5030UBe 2D/3D 1080p 3LCD Projector can deliver high-quality 2D and 3D both in theater-dark lighting and a family room with ambient light.

High-quality, full 1080p 3D. Both zoom and lens shift for easy setup. WirelessHD transmitter with five inputs.

No audio output on projector. Switching to and from 3D requires changing settings manually in some cases.

That said, if the Epson PowerLite Home Cinema 5030UBe 2D/3D 1080p 3LCD Projector is the right price for your budget, you're bothered by rainbow artifacts, and you insist on excellent image quality, the 5030UBe is the projector to get. And it's only...

Epson PowerLite Home Cinema 500

The budget-priced Epson PowerLite Home Cinema 500 2D home entertainment projector delivers a bright, rainbow-free image, but at less-than-720p resolution.

Inexpensive. LCD engine means no rainbow artifacts. Bright enough to use in a living room or family room.

Native resolution is only 800 by 600. No 3D capability.

The 800-by-600 resolution makes this projector of no interest if you insist on 720p or 1080p resolution, and of limited interest even you don't. Either way, you'll get a more detailed image with a higher-resolution projector like the Editors' Choice...

Epson PowerLite 4855WU 3LCD Projector

The Epson PowerLite 4855WU 3LCD Projector delivers a bright, high-quality image.

Rated at 4,000 lumens. 1,920-by-1,200 resolution. Horizontal and vertical lens shift. 1.8x zoom lens. Good sound quality.

Minor issues for data image quality, including ever so slightly soft focus.

The Epson PowerLite 4855WU 3LCD Projector doesn't offer quite enough to replace the Canon REALiS SX80 Mark II as Editors' Choice. Depending on your application, however, its higher resolution and higher brightness may be more important for you than the...

Epson PowerLite D6155W WXGA 3LCD Projector

The Epson PowerLite D6155W WXGA 3LCD Projector delivers a high-quality, bright image.

Bright. 1.6x zoom lens. Near-excellent data image quality. Watchable video.

Notably low contrast ratio. No 3D support.

The Epson PowerLite D6155W WXGA 3LCD Projector obviously offers a lot to like, with high brightness, near-excellent data image quality, watchable video quality, and a sound system that offers both high enough quality and high enough volume to be...

Epson PowerLite 1761W Multimedia Projector

The Epson PowerLite 1761W Multimedia Projector is slim and ultra-light, offers very good data and video image quality, and provides solid connectivity choices including Wi-Fi.

Slim and ultra-light. Good price for its capabilities. Excellent data and video image quality.

Traces of tinting in some data images. Sound system could be louder.
