Sure, the aesthetics aren't as nice as the Apple remote but I can't buy one for my G4. This works. 'Nuff said.
This thing allows you to utilize a remote control to control front row running on older macs. Now that Leopard includes front row for everyone (no hacks required), it's a useful add-on. This has allowed me to use my old iMac G4 as a 'media center PC'...
I wouldn't buy this to replace a functioning remote on a Mac that supported the Apple remote

If I had to do it again, I might have chosen the Manta TR1 and just used the Apple Remote. Sure, RF is superior to IR, but I just hate even looking at this sad, sick little piece of crap.
In every technical sense, this device works as advertised. I've not had any functional problems
If, like me and most Mac users, you have a certain taste for aesthetics, I promise you this device will offend all your senses. It is made of el-cheapo plastic that lacks the luster of Apple-quality products. The tactile feedback of the buttons is icky...

it does mostly what they say it does
if your using tiger, make sure u already have the built in IR reciever or investigate the various hax for running FR w/o the apple remote - leopard works fine, appears to work in linux and windows but might not be useful without a key remapper

Works as well as the RF remotes provided by Apple. Larger theoretical distance than the Apple one though. You need 10.5 to run Frontrow on a non-Intel Mac.
Using on my G4 Powerbook 15"" with 10.5. Works great.
I hate having a large dongle sticking out the side of my laptop, but there's no other option.
