Would not recommend this to anyone.
Do not have one
Set up with Samsung hdtv, cable, DVR player. Unable to get all of the speakers to world. When you increase the volume the numbers go down. The scenes and input make no sense. Have had four different 'experts' try to set this up. Not one of them, nor...

Great product!
The sound seperation is much better than my older Yamaha. The price speaks for it's self.
The only con is UPS. I think newegg needs to make ups leave a note on your door and take the packages back to the sub station. I have come home and found over a thousand dollars worth of electronics sitting on my porch. This is disturbing to me.

Again I say do your homework. I bought this system with very little knowledge of all the ins and outs of 5.1 do a search to learn more before your purchase. I was thinking I could hook this up to my old 3 ohm Samsung Mini system now I need to buy a new...
The unit sounds good, the music sounds pure crisp and clean, The price is right, I have purchased Yamaha products in the past most are still working now since 1985 so I love most of their equipment.
This system will only work with 8 or 6 ohm speaker systems and the Subwoofer has to have its own amp. I had read other reviews but I didn't see this. Also this is a non-refundable purchase so dont even think about returning it just because it doesn't...

I would have liked one more HDMI input so that I don't have to change inputs on the TV....but Direct TV's newer HD recievers no longer do the off air DTV tuning so I have to change the input from HDMI to Antenna anyhow. That really burns me more than...
For the media room this is a really nice amp. I have Direct TV, Toshiba upconverting DVD, X-Box 360, and soon a HTPC, running through it. Speakers are a set of Polk Audio with a subwoofer. Learning what is connected to what is the hardest but there is...
As many have said if HDMI carries the audio why doesn't Yamaha pick that signal and send it to the speakers? They and many others do not do it until you get into the 7.1 higher end amps. Really makes no sense to me but I am not the one who designs this...

It seems some people expected HDMI to be more than just throughputs, if you absolutely cannot stand having a few extra cables, then this receiver's not for you. However, for most people who enjoy music and video, this Yamaha is great.
I was building a theater system on a somewhat tight budget, and I was sort of disheartened at my limited selection in my price range. Then I stumbled upon this little gem and I have to say, for its price, the build and quality is phenomenal. I have...
None yet, works as I expected for the price.
