The Toshiba Satellite A65-S126 is a great deal for the sheer number of features: a 15" screen, combination DVD/CD-RW drive and a 60GB hard drive.

Attractive design, large screen, Wi-Fi switch, good sound from speakers

Slow, poor battery life, no FireWire

The Toshiba Satellite A65-S126 is slow and lacks bundled software, but it's still a good choice if a big hard drive and big screen top your priority list.

Toshiba Satellite A65-S126 Notebook

 

For $999, the 7-pound Toshiba Satellite A65-S126 is a great deal for the sheer number of features: a 15-inch screen, combination DVD/CD-RW drive, and a 60GB hard drive.

Toshiba provides little in the way of printed documentation, but a nice PDF manual comes preloaded on the hard drive. The only information it's missing is parts labeling, which can be found on its quick-tour sheet

There's nothing fancy about the Toshiba Satellite A65, and its performance doesn't come close to that of the others here. It shines only on wireless range tests, delivering the strongest 802.11g signal at every distance. But that alone isn't enough to...

Strong wireless performance. S-Video-out port

No FireWire port. Lacks quick-launch buttons. Poor battery life

The Satellite A65 will handle basic computing tasks, such as e-mail and Web browsing, but compared with other notebooks in this roundup it is short on power and features.

Toshiba Satellite A65-S1762 Intel Pentium 4 (HT) 3.2GHz Refurbished Laptop

 

Good reports abound about this great deal on a refurbished laptop computer. It certainly would not find itself out of place amongst discount laptop computers, being priced at a quite resonable one thousand one hundred.

If you're looking for something lightweight look elsewhere, as at 7.7lbs, your arms will be getting a good workout carrying this sucker around.
