Toshiba Satellite L305-S5955

Ridiculously affordable; decent screen; handles streaming video well.

Slow, older CPU; thick and boxy; no Webcam.

While it's hard to argue with a $350 laptop, the underpowered L305-S5955 is, basically, a Netbook in a larger case, with slightly better video playback.

Attractive, if generic, design; multimedia controls.

Below-average performance; relatively short battery life; fingerprint prone; comparatively small connection assortment.

If you need a basic laptop, the Toshiba Satellite L305D-5934 is a respectable option, but a little more money will easily net you more computer.

Toshiba Satellite L305-S5875

Decent overall performance; nice-looking design; media control buttons above keyboard and volume dial along front edge add convenience; includes a Webcam--a feature not found on all entry-level laptops.

Mediocre battery life; substandard keyboard; wobbly display; cluttered desktop; no FireWire or Bluetooth.

There is nothing inherently wrong with the entry-level Toshiba Satellite L305, but both Dell and Sony have 15-inch budget laptops that offer more for less.

With all the upgrades its not to shabby .CPU T9300, SSD, MEMORY 4G, EXPRESS CARD 3.0 SPEED, OPERATING SOFTWARE WINDOWS 7 64 BIT and bam runs pretty good. It was a fun project.

Decent in '08

 

Toshiba is an overall good company and Newegg is the best ofcourse ;)..

This was a good deal and laptop back in '08 ; still runs good ; great display

was not as fast as i expected back in '08 ; slow hard drive, 1 egg off for that they could of 7200 rpmed it for that price

Excellent Laptop

 

good battery backup, slim look, high speed.. best configuration with economy budget.....

Once all the junk software (and especially Norton Internet Security) is removed, runs fairly fast. Sempron is an excellent basic processor for work or school, as long as you are not trying to game with it. Anybody who games at all should already know...
