Sony VAIO VGN-G118GN

Size, battery life, internal optical drive, slim design

Screen flexes too much

The Sony VAIO VGN-G811GN/B is a very nice option for people who expect to be on the road a lot. The battery life is good and for such a small unit it's nice to see an internal optical drive.

Sony's latest business-centric Vaio is a wonder of sturdy construction, ultra light portability and enticing design. At the same time, it's not exactly an inexpensive number-crunching beast.

Incredibly light ; Sturdy carbon fibre body ; Great battery life

Only a core solo processor ; Tops out at 1.5GB of memory

As with the battery benchmarks, few of our test suite of applications are currently fully Vista-compatible, although we were able to drag a PC Mark CPU score of 2012 and memory score of 2054 out of the Vaio VGN-G118GN, and a 3DMark score of 155. None...

I've had this laptop for about 2 years, it's great as a small laptop, the battery life is as good as suggested, but only if you're not using it a lot, you have the performance settings all set to 'long life' and you let it put itself to sleep every now...

Lightweight, portable, excellent battery life

Actually works well if you dont want to run anything beyond email and business apps. Get the ram upgrade, it helps a lot.

i bought mine the other day (obviously im japanese)..but apparantly if you dont use a japanese operating system (so japanese vista)..it can apparantly act 'more strangerly'..as this computer was only meant to be for japan sales only... however..i have...

you can customise this computer ..right to the core lol ; light..feels like plastic ; tough ; secure..knowing that your work isnt going to be lost that easily

not good for gaming..unless you have 2Gb ram..at least ; bit pricy (unless you customize the computer)
