Panasonic Toughbook CF-C1 rugged tablet PC

Panasonic Toughbook CF-C1 review: A tablet PC capable of withstanding hard knocks and spilt drinks

Light and strong ; Good tablet features ; Can run two hot-swappable batteries

No SSD ; Cramped keyboard ; Fingerprint reader isn't standard

The Panasonic Toughbook CF-C1 isn't a typical tablet-convertible PC: it's for business users and field workers who want something easy to hold and capable of withstanding drops, knocks and spills.

Panasonic Toughbook CF-C1 review

The Panasonic Toughbook CF-C1 is an ultraportable laptop/convertible tablet PC capable of withstanding hard knocks and spilt drinks.

If rugged is what you need, then this is the business – but be prepared to pay the higher price. However, if you need something super slim, or that'll forgive you for being a poor typist, then avoid the ToughBook. As an alternative, you can also use...

Panasonic Toughbook CF-C1

Extremely lightweight for such a large tablet. Rugged spill and drop-resistant design. Display screen viewable even in bright sunlight. Good performance.

Battery life is average. Circular scroll wheel works poorly. Commands a premium price.

If your work environment would kill a regular tablet, Panasonic's CF-C1 could be just the ticket, and a surprisingly light ticket at that. It will, however, leave your wallet feeling similarly light.

Panasonic CF-C1 Toughbook

When reviewing the Panasonic Toughbook notebook range, you have to constantly remind yourself that the way it's designed is purposeful. If you didn't, you'd get caught up in the aesthetics of the device, which wouldn't bode well for the latop – words...

Tough, does the job that is it is designed for

Battery life, pricey

Overall, it’s not a bad little unit. Nothing to shout about, but it will find its uses amongst those who don’t want to have to treat their laptop like fine piece of china

The Toughbook CF-C1 delivers a very solid business package at a rather exceptional price. We say exceptional not in that it's a bargain, but simply that many businesses will baulk at the asking price of AU$3299. If you work in environments that aren't...

Panasonic - Toughbook CF-C1

Computer fashions are fickle, like clothing. Remember when owning a PDA was the height of cool, followed by mini-notebooks and netbooks? Now suddenly we're in the age of the tablet, when you're no-one if you don't ...

It's very pricey, but the Panasonic Toughbook CF-C1 is the ideal mobile PC companion for those who need its specialised features - balancing ruggedness with lightness and offering the advantages of both notebooks and tablet PCs with near-continuous...

Review: Panasonic Toughbook CF-C1

Ultra-durable laptop/tablet hybrid reviewed.

Convertible tablets are a niche category, but for in-the-field businesses that require their unique tablet abilities, Panasonic has produced an accomplished example. It's by no means cheap, but with the usual Toughbook build quality accompanied by...
