Gateway M285-E

Easy-to-use wide-screen tablet PC turned in good performance.

Includes a full-size keyboard

Heavy for a tablet PC

The powerful M285-E offers an unusually roomy keyboard, especially for a tablet PC. Screen pivoting works smoothly.

Gateway M285-E review

To some people, tablet PCs are a novelty--good for occasional touch-screen doodling and not much more. For others, especially note-taking students and conference room PowerPoint jockeys, tablets have become indispensable, even if they're often saddled...

Thanks to a Core 2 Duo processor, you get tablet features without sacrificing regular laptop performance; responsive screen and stylus; available with long-lasting 12-cell battery.

Too big and heavy for some tablet users; stylus requires recalibration when flipping screen orientation; low-res screen.

Gateway's M285-E convertible tablet can easily serve double duty as your main PC, but its size and weight makes it hard to use as a full-time tablet.

Our system came with an 8-cell lithium-ion battery -- Gateway also offers a 6-cell pack that replaces the optical drive in the M285-E's modular bay and a 12-cell battery that protrudes past the end of the chassis. The supplied battery impressed us for...
