In an era of thin laptops and Ultrabooks, to be thin is starting to feel like less of a novelty and more of a requirement. Thin, however, is relative: are you talking about the razor-thin world of Ultrabooks, or the not-quite-as-slim world of thin...
The Asus U46E-BAL6 has an excellent keyboard and a well-designed frame, and comes packed with a fast processor, ample connectivity features--WiMax and USB 3.0 included--and plenty of hard-drive space and RAM for an aggressive price.
The laptop doesn't have dedicated graphics, and the battery life is good, but we've seen better.
A strong design, tons of features, and plenty of performance make the Asus U46E-BAL6 one of the best 14-inch laptops we've seen all year.

The Asus U46E-BAL6 is a mainstream laptop that caters to hardcore video editors or serious performance enthusiasts.
Extremely powerful quad core processor. 8GB of memory. Stand-out metallic design. 750GB hard drive is the largest. WiDi 2.0 and WiMAX wireless technologies built-in. USB 3.0 port on board. Very good battery life.
Lacks a discrete graphics chip.

The 14-inch widescreen and its 1,366-by-768 resolution can be found in most mainstream configurations, but it's bright, with very good viewing angles. The Samsung QX411-W01 uses a glass-covered screen, which liven up photos and movies with...
Stand-out metallic design. Sweet deal of a price. 750GB hard drive. Core i5 processor and 8GB of RAM are a powerful combination. WiDi 2.0 and WiMAX. USB 3.0 port. Very good battery life
Lacks a discrete graphics chip
While other mainstream laptops are putting in boilerplate parts, the Asus U46E-BAL5 raises the bar with excellent processing power and a glut of cutting-edge features.

Hi, I am owner of ASUS U46E-BAL6. Performance wise this notebook has been very good. But hinge of monitor broke without any external physical damage. And as the inner frame of monitor is plastic, it also broke with it. This damage happened in just...
Good Performance
Weak assembly and cover body

I am an extremely heavy user. I'm a law student and I carry it to campus with me every day, carry it from class to class, and use it pretty constantly from 8 a.m. until 11 p.m. Most of what I do is word processing - I don't play games or anything, so I...
Long battery, durable, fast
I have run into 2 aesthetic problems. The grooves in the aluminum case are IMPOSSIBLE to keep clean. Also, after only 5 months, the paint is coming off of the keys. Also, my last laptop had a sort of dial for volume control - no buttons.

I bought this computer for my son for college. Six months later the screen just died for no apparent reason. I called Asus and spent over an hour on the phone with someone there, explaining the situation and getting an RME. He said I had to send it in...
Seems like good value for money, and fairly light weight
Terrible service if you have a problem.

I got this model for college but whenever I tried to watch Netflix or load ANYTHING the entire laptop would shut off. It got worse every time I turned it back on. I sent it back
size, weight, overall cosmetic quality
speakers suck, clicks on the mousepad are really loud

Won't buy another ASUS or spend the money for an extended warrenty with NewEgg again.
Good Specs for price
Screen bezel broke no longer opens an closes like a laptop should. Never left my desk. ASUS made a poor design. Bought extended warrenty and they say it must have been physically abused so not covered

Fast machine, hardly overheats, compact and excellent external design. I have been using this laptop mainly for work (recording engineer) and random internet use (mainly Netflix). It has an incredibly short boot up time, have only had it screen lock...
Two main cons I have are it's volume and the one crash issue I had with it. The volume issue is simple to fix, headphones or speakers, it's just ridiculously quiet in my opinion. The screen lock issue came from my first test run with some recording...
