Alienware M17x R4

The top-performing Alienware M17x R4 ostentatious, audacious, over the top, and strangely enough, more affordable than rivals.

Large, bright screen. HDMI-in is rare on a laptop. Blu-ray drive. Lots of video outputs. Four USB 3.0 ports. Ivy Bridge processor. 3D performance that rivals dual-card systems. Full-size keyboard with numeric keypad. Solid build quality....

Shiny screen. Heavy. Less than three hours of battery life.

As befits a gaming system, the M17x R4 is unencumbered by bloatware. The only icon you see on the desktop when you boot the system for the first time is the Alienware Command Center. No eBay, no Microsoft Office, no bloatware period. The system even...

Alienware M17x review: Alienware M17x

Alienware M17x

Subtle improvements to Alienware's dorm-room-chic design; amazingly fast and powerful; highly configurable.

Good configs can get very expensive; no 16:9 display; garish lights don't scream "high end."

Alienware's new version of the M17x makes some welcome design tweaks and offers the best laptop gaming hardware you can get. Just be warned: it ain't cheap.

Alienware Area-51 m17x review: Alienware Area-51 m17x

Alienware Area-51 m17x

Highest-end components; imposing design; fantastic performance.

Starting configurations are overpriced; touch controls are a bit wonky.

If you're looking to drop some major change on a show-off gaming laptop, it's hard to do better than the Alienware Area-51 m17x, a mean-looking, high-performance black slab.

Alienware has been flying the flag for gamers for a while now. While its hardware isn't exactly cheap, for those serious about PC gaming, it is one of the go-to brands. The M17x is a very good laptop for gaming. At around £1,200 for the 680m-touting...

The M17x is a very good laptop for gaming. At around £1,200 for the 680m-touting model, with improved full HD screen and 8GB of RAM, we can't think of a much better rig on which to play your PC titles. HDMI out means you won't need a desktop and the...

Alienware M17x R4 Notebook Review

It's partytime! While Nvidia's Kepler flagship still keeps us wai

Excellent Performance; Many lighting elements; Convincing Full HD display; Good input devices; Good Workmanship; Very fast GPU; Gummed surfaces; Rich selection of accessories; Great selection of connectors; Good sound quality; Simple to service

AMD's GPU auto-switching is poor; The plastic display cover causes extreme reflections.; High weight

Massive desktop replacements like the Asus G75V, the MSI GT70, the One M73-2N or the Schenker XMG P702 PRO.

The Power of Serenity Alienware and gaming - evidently always a s

Attractive design; Good workmanship; Very stable, high-quality case; Individualization possible; High image contrast and good color representation; Very good application and 3D performance; Low system noise in office mode possible

Competitors? Which competitors could be named here? Various plastic buckets from the far east? Definitely not. Even if they might have a comparable hardware. The Asus W90 may just eventually have had the potential, but this wasn't exhausted.
