A cheaper Lens for the good coverage in view, value for the money. Snapshot photos only because of sharpness.

Sharpness not to good for large photo prints, lens sharpness a letdown for people who like things sharp in the image. Good enough for the snapshot photographer.

Does what its meant for, a good travel lens. Very easy to change from wide angle to telephoto. moderate weight. I love not having to carry 18-55 and 70-200 with me!!! The autofocus is fast.. I could pick the pictures of surfers and skating children...

IS is fair at higher focal lengths. It is not the strongest zoom lens you can get. Be prepared to accept slight blur. However, the money and trouble it saves compared to two kit lenses or a good (and costly) zoom lens, this disadvantage is negligible.
