Panasonic 20mm 1.7 II

 

Panasonic 20 mm f/1.7 is very attractive for street photography, wedding photography or other occasions where you want to be as unobtrusive as possible as a photographer. And it's an ideal travel companion for your holidays.

High sharpness ; Low chromatic aberration and distortion ; Bright ; Nice bokeh ; Compact design and lightweight ; Solid construction and nice finish

Vignetting at full aperture ; Manual focusing without resistance

As good as this micro-43 lens is, it comes out even better when you compare it to all other lenses with an equivalent field of view, tested on SLR cameras with an APS-C or full frame sensor. We have so far tested 75 lenses with virtually the same field...

I use this lens when travelling with a one body, one lens combo, as it's fast, reliable, and I find the 40mm (equivalent) focal length a great halfway between a wide angle and portrait lens. I have seen some minor CA around the edges on high contrast...

Optically perfect - very sharp image at all apertures. Perfect for using in poorly-lit indoor situations - f1.7 makes a lot of moody non-flash photography possible, as well as very satisfying images with the subject in sharp focus and the background...

No anti-shake system - so you have to get used to holding the camera very steady in low-light situations....just as you would with fondly-remembered 35mm SLRs.
