Insignia NS-WBRDVD3 Review: Inexpensive 3D Blu-ray Player Makes Sacrifices

With the Insignia NS-WBRDVD3, 3D Blu-ray players become a commodity. The $120 price (as of November 17, 2011) puts this player in the price range of low-end 2D models. But in exchange for that price, you'll have to lower your expectations, especially...

3D capability ; Astonishingly low price for a 3D player

Lacks Hulu Plus ; Disappointing image quality ; No network-based multimedia ; Uninformative menus

Though 3D Blu-ray players don't come any cheaper than the NS-WBRDVD3, this model's unexceptional image quality and sparse Internet options make it less of a bargain than it appears to be.

Insignia NS-WBRDVD2

While the rock-bottom price is appealing, the Insignia NS-WBRDVD2's slow and uneven performance make it a poor first choice for your Blu-ray player. Spend a little extra and get a more reliable, full-featured model.

Inexpensive. Built-in Wi-Fi.

Slow to load discs. Has difficulty loading some discs at all. Awkward remote. Few online services available.

Insignia NS-WBRDVD2: Middling Performance From an Inexpensive Blu-ray Player

No one would mistake the Insignia NS-WBRDVD2 for a great Blu-ray player. Its images, while often very good, don't measure up to those of the best players. It can't access media files off your home network. Using it can often be clumsy and irritating,...

Low price ; Very good, sometimes superb Blu-ray image quality ; Some remote buttons glow in the dark

Unhelpful on-screen menus and printed documentation ; No YouTube ; Clumsy remote control

You can't expect a great Blu-ray player for $150, but the Insignia NS-WBRDVD2 delivers a more-than-fair product for the price.

Review: Insignia NS-WBRDVD2 Blu-ray player

For all its faults, the NS-WBRDVD2 covers the basics. You can stream Netflix, music, and pay-per-view movies. You can watch and listen to your own home media. And when you insert a Blu-ray disc, you'll get a very fine image for a player in this price...

Another shortcoming will probably hit you the second time you turn on the player. Unlike every other Blu-ray player I have looked at, you cannot turn on the NS-WBRDVD2 by pressing either of the Open/Close buttons (the one on the player or the one on...

This player performs very well. No loading problems or firmware issues as of yet, and its ability to play 3D and pick up internet wirelessly are an awesome feature for the price.

Wireless Internet Connection. 3D Compatible. Netflix, Pandora, & YouTube Accessible

Has had a hiccup or two when loading the streaming applications, but never anything serious

Insignia NS-WBRDVD Connected Blu-Ray Disc Player

Last year, I decided I needed to pick up a Blu-Ray player for my living room television. I already have my PS3 connected to my bedroom television, but the living room only had a mediocre DVD player connected to it, and with my desire to start...

Blu-Rays play beautifully, menu is easy to use

DVDs don't play most of the time, Wi-Fi connection is unstable, remote is awful

Insignia NS-WBRDVD2

Bought this player for a reluctant friend who didn't want a BD player to begin with, but I finally convinced him, mostly because I was sick of being limited to what I could bring over to watch. It is a surprisingly capable little player from an...

Built in WiFi, streaming services, decent DVD playback, solid BD playback, sleek look, touch-sensitive buttons on BD player face

Cheap remote, iffy wifi, lack of variety in streaming, DVD playback could be better

Insignia NS-WBRDVD

I love this blu-ray player. Insignia is the Best Buy house brand and it is has good as any major brand name out there. The price for this player was great. 99.99 is right on for a wireless blu-ray player. The wireless is very easy to set up and it will...

Great price for a wireless blu-ray player. Shows a great picture and wireless runs great and instant netflix is amazing

The remote messes up once in awhile but it is not a big deal
