Grunty and industrial, can be worked hard and loves it. Why spend more?

This machine is simple and effective. You could spend twice as much and get some more gauges, but no better coffee. I bought my machine second hand on the recommendation of my espresso engineer friend, the quality of the machine and the New Zealand...

Commercial design, generic parts, great steam pressure and extraction power. No useless extras

Large foot print (for its class), best plumbed in, steam wand should be a ball swivel, could increase your coffee bill. Rubbing point under water reservoir can cause corrosion

Probably one of the best E61 machines available

Like most espresso enthusiasts, I have tried many machines over the last 6+ years, ranging from basic krupps models, to Gaggia classics and the Rancilio Silvia before I decided that it was time for an HX machine.

Dependable, consistent shots. Best machine I've found sofar

steam and hot water wands are wider than the machine and miss the drip tray, which could be a little bigger ; The side panels are very scratch sensitive

Looks of a supermodel and performance of an athlete need i say more

I had a Gaggia Classic for 5 years and was looking to step up to a machine that I could produced expressos on and not run of steam. I spent about 3 months researching the others and found this one to be ideal. I spoke with some local coffee houses in...

Great machine, easy to use, makes good consistent shots--Save a bundle of money and purchase it in the US.

For me it was between this machine and the ECM Giotto Premium. I carefully weighed my options by talking and visiting local suppliers on a frequent basis during my 2 months of "shopping around". Both machines have very similar spec's. Some of the...

Very good machine

I purchased the machine 2 months ago and immediately found out how easy it is to make a good espresso with this machine. The machine produces lots of steam and espresso with no hesitation. It takes 15 to 20 minutes to warm up from a cold start, and you...

Has a very good finish. both the steam and hot water wands swivel so you can use them easily. Heavy commercial quality brew head. Drip tray is large enough for most home use, may be a little small if you were to use machine for commercial use. lots of...

Very large, takes up a lot of counter. will not fit under most cabinets. water resevoir is somewhat small, and awkward to fill

Champagne quality on a sparkling wine budget. Commercial equipment for the home.

Rock solid (like use it as a bollard in front of your house solid), commercial quality build. Attractive in an industrial kind of way. No shortage of hot water or steam. Easy to clean. Well considered design (access for water refill etc). All the...

One or two parts could be polished on both (rather than just one) side to improve the aesthetics. The cooling flushes take about 30secs to acheive steady streem flow (a bit long?). Limited freeplay for PF insertion. Water (especially when bubbling in a...

Buy one !

Researched the espresso market and this forum. It took me a year to decide which machine to buy and went for the Butterfly. No fuss machine which is very stable and very well build.

What can you say?? This is the best machine on the market… simple as that!! Nothing does it better – a few do it just as good ; It all comes down to design and price (as always) if you like the “industrial” look and simplicity then this is a “NO...

No reason to mention the wand.. but there you go ; Note: the wand has been improved on the new model and now comes with a swivel-wand ; Only real negative thing is my “shakes” after the 10'Th espresso, and my wife complaining about my insomnia due to...

Butterfly is so pro it could sing in LaScala - Milan.

What a machine!

Ultimate industrial design - no unnecessary decoration, pure clean straight line look, polished steel/chrome finish, built quality, minimalistic simplicity of use, consistent great shots, short heat up time (for HX machine)

Nothing negative with exception for bit noisy pump action, but this should not be really of any significance. I posted it rather to give at least something negative to this otherwise positive opinion

Go Get One

The machine I bought is a plumb-in version. The tubes are plumbed to the machine in an awkward position, which required you to drill a large hole on the table right underneath the machine to avoid bending and breaking the tube.

heat up very fast, manual operating lever, great steam

small cylinder pump, small drip tray, two holes steam wand

Great E61 espresso machine, competing with Isomacs and ECM

I was searching for a HX machine and discovered the Butterfly more or less by accident in an espresso shop in Vienna. The big pro of the machine is in my opinion the price - you get a machine that could be compared to the ECM Giotto or Isomac Millenium...

Heavy duty commercial E61 grouphead, 1,8L Boiler. The machine comes with a 3.5L water tank and an integrated descaler that lasts for about 2500 !! liters. The Butterfly is capable of frothing large amounts of milk at a time and produces the best...

Like most E61 machines the Butterfly tends to overheat a little bit when unused for a longer time period. Flushing a few ounces of water through the grouphead solves the problem with ease
