Pantech Matrix Pro (AT&T)

The Pantech Matrix Pro scores points for its dual keyboards and excellent battery life, but it stumbles on music and video playback.

Flexible, dual-slider design. Good call quality. Solid reception. Excellent battery life.

Weak speakerphone. Clumsy dongle required when using headphones. Poor Web browser and video playback.

Pantech Matrix Pro

When it came out more than a year ago, the Pantech Duo (C810) won some fans with its dual slider/candy-bar design. Enter the Pantech Matrix Pro. Costing $180 (with a two-year agreement from AT&T), the new handset is a more polished take, but its...

Slick dual-slider design ; Great messaging and e-mail capabilities

No integrated Wi-Fi ; Mediocre camera

I expected to see some better specs on the Matrix Pro. The low-grade camera and the lack of support for Wi-Fi is disappointing in any smart phone--even one selling for $180. But the Matrix Pro is otherwise a solid, feature-rich phone with great...

Pantech Matrix Pro Phone Review

Slick dual-slider design ; Great messaging and e-mail capabilities

No integrated Wi-Fi ; Mediocre camera

The sleek Matrix Pro has excellent messaging features, but the lack of Wi-Fi and a mediocre camera is disappointing.

Pantech Matrix Pro (AT&T) review: Pantech Matrix Pro (AT&T)

Pantech Matrix Pro (AT&T)

The Pantech Matrix Pro has both a number keypad and a QWERTY keyboard. It comes with Windows Mobile 6.1 plus a 2-megapixel camera, A-GPS, threaded SMS messaging, 3G support, and more.

The Pantech Matrix Pro is rather bulky, and the number keypad felt flat and slippery. The interface is sluggish as well. It also does not have Wi-Fi.

The Pantech Matrix Pro is a decent Windows Mobile smartphone, but its clunky design and lack of Wi-Fi are disappointing.

Pantech Matrix Pro

Like the Pantech Duo, the Pantech Matrix Pro is notable for its dual-slider design. Pushing the slider up reveals the dial pad, while moving it to the right unearths a full QWERTY keyboard. The Matrix Pro is certainly better constructed than the Duo,...

Pantech Matrix Pro Review

Hearing the word PRO recently in the phone industry insinuates in mind a full featured high end device. Packed with an eclectic mix of features, these PRO devices set the bar higher in terms of functionality and design from their previous incarnations....

Pantech Matrix Pro

AT&T's latest dual-keyboard slider phone is the Pantech Matrix Pro, which is a dream for a die-hard texter. It's a successor to the Pantech Duo and now features two keyboards, one numeric and one QWERTY, in a slider-phone form factor. There are also...

Dual-keyboards w/ QWERTY ; Quad-band GSM & tri-band HSDPA ; Very good battery life ; Good call quality and excellent signal strength

Small amount of memory available for user files & programs ; Softkeys and navigation keys are too close together

The Pantech Matrix Pro is a quad-band (850/900/1800/1900) GSM phone that supports 850/1900/2100 HSDPA high-speed data networks. Voice calls from the phone are generally clear and sound decent and signal strength was impressive with full-bars almost all...

Pantech Matrix Pro Review

It has a 2.0 megapixel camera, Bluetooth 2.0, a microSD card slot, and 128 MB of RAM. It comes with a nice protective pouch that also doubles as a polishing cloth, a very small AC adapter, and a headphone adapter dongle

Offers both a keyboard and a numberpad ; Generally good performance ; Attractive looks

Dual keyboards make for a thick device ; Proprietary charge/sync port ; No headphone jack ; So-so camera

All in all, the Pantech Matrix Pro is a nicely designed device, but it isn't for everyone. It's considerably larger than many other phones, and the call quality isn't as good as I expected. It would make a good choice for someone who is more interested...
