If you can live without a hardware keyboard, the HTC Droid Eris is an affordable and feature-packed alternative to the Motorola Droid

Direct outlook synchronisation, bright and sharp display

Ships with Android 1.5 instead of 2.0, front panel softkeys difficult to find

Review: HTC Droid Eris

Finally, a $100 Android phone! I'll take one. What's that you say? There's a catch?

Hardware smoother than a shave with a cutthroat razor. Brilliant touchscreen is shiny and responsive. 5-megapixel cam shoots very passable pics. Price is a friend to wallets everywhere

Processor lags like a chain smoker running the Boston Marathon. Mediocre voice quality. User interface could use a tune-up. And a valve job. Hell, how about a complete overhaul

HTC Droid Eris (Verizon Wireless) review

Editors' note: Portions of this review were taken from our review of the HTC Hero . The two devices share similar features.

The HTC Droid Eris offers a slim design, plentiful features, and satisfying performance. It also has pinch and zoom multitouch.

The HTC Droid Eris has mixed multimedia quality. It comes only with the Android 1.5 OS, there's no file manager, and internal performance was occasionally sluggish.

Though its performance wasn't completely top-notch and we would prefer a more recent Android OS version, the HTC Droid Eris is a satisfying Android device that offers a nice contrast to the Motorola Droid. And you can't beat the price.

HTC Droid Eris (Verizon Wireless)

The HTC Droid Eris for Verizon Wireless cuts down on speed and screen size to bring you a Droid for under $100.

Polished interface. Good call quality. Has multitouch pinch-to-zoom. Supports all Android apps.

Poor camera. Poor video playback. Slower and lower-resolution than Motorola Droid. ; Watch the HTC Droid Eris!

Conclusions The HTC Droid Eris is an attractive phone, and HTC Sense is a pleasantly glossy interface. But the incredible power of Motorola's Droid beats the Eris with its bigger screen, better multimedia abilities, and most importantly its much faster...

HTC Droid Eris

The HTC Droid Eris marks the second in Verizon Wireless's parade of the Droids. Also due this week from Verizon, the Droid Eris ($100 with a two-year contract, price as of 11/5/2009) shares the Droid moniker and many features of competing Android...

Bright, sharp display ; Direct Outlook synchronization

Ships with Android 1.5 instead of 2.0 ; Front panel softkeys difficult to find

HTC Droid Eris

If you're looking to go Android , don't like the look of the robot-like Droid from Motorola, and want to stick to Verizon , you've currently got just the one other choice: the HTC Droid Eris, a reworking of the HTC Hero , an adaption also partaken by...

Quick, multi-touch, Android, Verizon network, proximity sensor, Sense UI

Smaller battery than the Sprint version

Software-wise you'll get all the usual apps, with Verizon only choosing to install its Visual Voicemail service on the phone. Like the Motorola Droid, this is a clean handset. Otherwise there is very little difference between the HTC Hero released in...

HTC Droid Eris

The HTC DROID Eris is one of the more attractive smartphone's sporting the Google Android OS that we've seen to date. It's thin, durable, has a bright display, and is pocket-friendly. It's also fully loaded with a 5-megapixel camera, Bluetooth, WiFi,...

HTC DROID ERIS Review

Not only did Verizon introduce the Motorola DROID earlier this month, but also the HTC DROID ERIS, as both are the first two Android-based devices for the wireless provider. While the Motorola DROID is getting most of the attention right now, and has a...
