Kinda Flakey

The Directv receiver doesn't 'see' this remote very well. Even though I'm only about 4-5 feet away, I have to turn the remote this way and that and keep pressing the button before it works. Batteries are new. Sees the 'real' remote just fine. The TV...

It's more or less universally programmable, in that you can make any button 'read' from another remote and learn that code

It's practically impossible to get it to learn repeating codes, like to hold down the volume button to increase or decrease volume. Also, this 'universal' remote does not have codes for my Sylvania LCD TV. Not exactly an unknown brand... It did have a...

Just what I needed

When programming in learning mode, I found it was best to actually touch the two remotes, and tap the buttons rather than holding them. However, if a button has a different function for holding versus tapping, you should probably hold it.

Does everything I needed. Amazing price.

It's not quite as universal as I had thought it would be. Of the seven device selections, on the "AUX" is truly universal. The "TV" setting is designed only to work with TV's. You could never control a DVD player with it. In fact I have a couple of...

Poor return policy, cannot do true macros

True macro remotes can learn sequences like: Turn on TV, turn on VCR, change input to Input 3, wait 5 seconds, and finally bring up VCR menu. This remote can only do "macros" for power on/off functions, and can only map them to a few buttons on the...

Cheap ; works well for basic functions ; good manual

Mushy button feel ; big battery bulge underneath makes holding remote awkward ; while description suggests real macro capability ("20 step macros") it cannot do true macros. It can only macro power on/off functions -- it cannot macro any other...

Macro functionality lacking

I am suspicious of all the 5 star reviews for a product that has limited/crippled macro functionality, has a big, somewhat awkward-feeling bulge on the bottom half of the underside, and has squishy button feel.

Cheap, does basic learning well

Macros can only be assigned to 7 buttons. Those 7 buttons are already needed to switch functionality to a specific device (TV, VCR, etc) and so you can screw things up / make them very complicated by overlaying a macro on those buttons ; Descriptions...

Freakin' sweet product for those of you who have 7 devices that could use some universal lovin'. I believe there are other remotes made by the same company that support a wider range of products (like the Universal Remote R6), so you will definitely...

This thing is a beast! I lost a lot of my remotes from moving and basically my own stupidity, so this little guy is quite useful. I was stoked when I found out it supported my old Sherwood A/V receiver and cheapo Ilo TV (I'm a college kid, what do you...

I'm not really used to the layout of the remote and I absolutely HATE the number pad being on the bottom. It doesn't affect the overall functionality of the remote, though, especially since my other friends don't seem to even care/notice. I guess I'm...

It's the only one of my half dozen universal remote6 that works with my Olevia TV (another happy purchase from Newegg). The company was even able to provide a code for an old piece of equipment of mine that wasn't listed in their booklet. The best...

Pretty Good Remote

Pretty much got everything right execpt one of the buttons for the VCR used to set the timer. Overall, a solid buy and certainly has a lot of potential if you are even a little techno savy..... and willing to read the book.

I was able to program 3 components with about 3 mins of code searching in the book and 5 more of trying codes. I bought it for my mom to replace a Directv remote, tv remote and VCR remote. I like it and I will probably buy one for myself.

If you are of the ""Apple"" school, it is far for pretty. Looks kind of old school, but mom doesn't care.

Almost Very Good

Overall I really like this remote for the reasons listed above. Given the value I would have rated this a 5 except for one (very annoying) point. For some reason, this remote sporadically responds when you hit the appropriate componet button (eg Tivo)....

Good feel to the remote. Buttons are responsive. Good Price. Learning Remote.

Didn't have a huge list of codes, so I had to teach it many of the commands (although that was easy to do) Selected componet (Cable Box, Tivo) doesn't always respond to commands.

Read the directions!. Believe me you when the manual says on the individual learning buttons to keep away from sunlight, plasma, bright light… it means it :) But once all said and done, works like a dream. Bang for the dollar, this is a sure fire winner.

Better transmit than originals remotes I have… Absolutely works as advertised.

Little tough to teach to learn.

Basic, yet fully customizable

I have a few components that have never been fully compatible with any other universal remote I have owned. With the programming & learning capabilities, alhthough I had to spend some time setting it up, I don't have to worry about losing those...

Learning capabilities, nearly every button may be programmed, ""punch through"" to any component, Remembers your settings forever, nice backlighting, uncluttered layout

None yet.
