SlingMedia Slingbox

The Slingbox lets you watch your TV from any web browser in the world. That's pretty cool.

The icing on the cake is that you can remotely control your set-top box as if you’re sitting in front of it. The candles on top of the cake are that you don’t even need a set-top box as the Slingbox has a built-in DVB-T tuner. This has been especially...

Sling Media Slingbox 350

Think of the Slingbox 350 as an updated, less-expensive Slingbox Solo. It's great for watching cable TV channels and recorded content on the go, but there's not much that's new, even four years later.

Gorgeous 1080p video streaming. Simplified setup. Reliable performance. Includes plenty of cables in the box.

No Wi-Fi. Ties up the television to which the Slingbox is connected. SlingPlayer mobile apps all cost extra. Sluggish channel changes.

Setup, In Use, and Conclusions The Slingbox 350 also lacks the remote and on-screen TV setup the 500 offers. That's not much of an issue, though, because Sling Media's redesigned Web interface is easy to navigate, and you don't need to input a complex...

Review: Sling Media Slingbox 500

The new Slingbox 500 represents the best of the device's breed to date, offering all the features fans have been wanting and even a few...

Finally supports HDMI, Wi-Fi, and 1080p. Built-in IR blaster. No monthly fees. Still the single best way to watch live TV when you’re away from your TV

Big and expensive. Mobile apps cost apiece. Hijacks the TV feed from whoever’s watching at home. Some premium channels require component-video connection, even if you’re already using HDMI. No tuner

Sling Media Slingbox review

Editors' note: The Slingbox model reviewed here (model SB100-100, aka "Slingbox Classic") is no longer produced. It has since been replaced by the Slingbox Solo and the Slingbox Pro-HD .

Works with Macs, Windows PCs and Windows Mobile handhelds and cell phones; simple, straightforward setup; no host PC or monthly charges required; decent video quality; easy-to-use viewing software.

No built-in wireless networking support; monopolizes the attached device.

If you can't live without your favorite shows, the Sling Media Slingbox is the best way to beam them to any broadband-connected PC or Windows Mobile device in the world.

Sling Media Slingbox Review (pics, specs)

As many of us jam up our digital video recorders with shows and movies we don't have time to watch live, many of us are finding we don't have time to watch them recorded either. Well, at home anyway. But what about your lunch break at the office?...

Sling Media Slingbox Pro-HD review

The Slingbox range plugs into your home video equipment and broadcasts its content over the internet, so you can watch your shows from any PC or Mac connected to the ‘net. There are also smartphone players, so telly addicts don't even need to carry a...

There’s no HDMI input, the web interface can be slow and we wish it had wireless networking, but it’s still an easy way to stream video content over the internet.

Sling Media Slingbox

Have you ever had to endure an endless evening channel-hopping in some overseas hotel room, wishing you could be at home watching your own television?

Cunningly simple, with striking looks, a built-in Freeview tuner, a good selection of connections and cables and priced significantly lower than Sony's take on a similar concept - the Sony LocationFree - the Slingbox is a winner.
