Navman MY500XT GPS unit

Navman's latest top-of-the-range GPS unit boasts a capacitive touch screen and a new user interface

Design, capacitive touch screen, choice of glide or tap interfaces, keyword search, traffic capabilities, lane guidance and 3D junction views

Overzealous school zone alerts, map is missing red light cameras and 'no right turns', screen transitions are a little sluggish, not all phones compatible with Bluetooth, TMC antenna is built into charger not the actual unit

Navman MY500XT

FM transmitter now more Mohammed Ali than Steve Urkel. Clean map screen. Capacitive screen less error prone. Keyword destination search.

Glass screen glare-prone, psychedelic with sunnies on. Music selection painful. Bluetooth data connection impossible. 3D landmarks annoying.

Improved, but still deeply flawed. We'd suggest checking out the lesser fruit from the Navman tree first.

Navman MY500XT: Bouquets and Brickbats

It's no secret that I found the Navman S200 appallingly irritating. So you can imagine my trepidation when I was accosted by a charming PR person (do they come in other flavours?), bubbling about the new Navman range, now with integrated traffic...
