Topfield TF7000HDPVRt

With almost every new television being released today also coming with an integrated digital tuner, the demand for digital set top boxes is falling. N...

Excellent range of recording options, quick and responsive interface

Limited editing options, no preset recording quality modes, no ability to record from the time shift buffer

A powerful recording unit, the Topfield TF7000HDPVRt is let down by the omission of a few features and options that we would've liked to have seen, but overall, it's a top-notch PVR.

It's taken a while for Topfield to actually release an HD model of its popular PVR line. The TF7000HDPVRt is finally here - but the lack of networking support seriously detracts from what is otherwise an excellent PVR.

Looks great ; Smaller remote ; Can update ICEGuide via USB flash drive ; Faster channel switching time

Lacks WiFi connection for EPG updates ; USB port is on the back of the system ; No more TAP support

It's just that the TF7000HDPVRt isn't the only PVR worth watching any more. In a world of AppleTVs, improved Media Centres and even a number of brand-name (and imported) PVRs offering more, the TF7000HDPVRt is something of an also-ran prospect.

Worst purchase EVER! Have had to send it to Sydney twice for repair and now it's out of warranty and I've had nothing but problems. It freezes at least once a day, channels keep dropping off etc., etc. This started within weeks of purchasing the...

It worked just fine for two years, but now a couple of times a night it looses all its channels and you have to do a tedious research from them all. Looses all its Timer settings as well as the EPG. For a machine that costs this much it really ought to...

concur with many others on this forum the Topfield TF7000HDPVRt is the most infuriatingly unreliable piece of technology ( ie crap) I have ever owned. When it works it is great but it has so many incomprehensible glitches it is not funny. It wipes...

Power supplied died and had to be replaced out of warranty. Machine also runs EXTREMELY HOT, thus continues to freeze up.

Good reason to get a Media Center PC instead

Runs extremely hot, very unreliable

I would have rather urinated on $600 and then set it on fire. This has to be the most useless, unfit for purpose piece of "electrical"(if you can call it that) equipment ever produced. Firmware upgrades make problems worse, Topfield will not...

Makes an excellent, (if not expensive) bookend, my wife thinks the blue light is pretty
