Bad

For the money its nots good value as problems occur around 1 or into the second year of operation. There are better units out there but you need to spend a few more dollars

Twin Tuners Remote buttons decent size

About 1 year in the remote buttons were hard to work and 2 years in the remote has just about given up the ghost. The box itself is pixalating very badly, tried a re boot, checked the connections but still bad. reviews seem to indicate a common problem....

We are going to run over it :)I am so happy to find out what the problem is, no more spending $ and guessing

Looks nice

THANK GOD I found these reviews!!! After 1 year i noticed the digital degrading-squeaks and pixels. It got so hot, too (like everyone else's on here) I spent $200 on an electrician to install a roof-mounted antenna. It helped-a LITTLE-one week later it...

I have had nothing but dramas with this machine! Fast forwarding - general skips back half an hour before so i am fast forwarding for a lot longer, when you change chanel you have no sound and the picture skips for 2-3 minutes, when recording, you have...

It does look good on my entertainmnt unit and i love the record 2 differnt channels

Where do i start?? Here i was thinking i was the only one having all these issues but all the other reviewers sum up this machine completely!

I would not recommend this unit to anyone as it had not been completely satisfactory. I have been managing to put up with the faults that I have encountered until now, as I have the patience to find a work around, my boyfriend gave up a long time ago....

Loved the idea of the dual tuner to be able to record 2 channels at once and watch something already recorded. At the time I purchased this unit just over a year ago, I got 2, there was not much else on the market. I found the unit easy to setup and...

Faults I have found: - unreliable Fast Forward, sometimes skips back to the previous place you had started playing from. I found the skip feature is more reliable - Like someone else stated, unable to view another channel if already recording 2 shows...

Save your money and buy a real brand - I will never buy a TEAC product again and I would never recommend it to anyone

Nothing I can see

the overheating and very loud humming noise drives me crazy. i have it repaired once already and its only a few months old - took nearly a month to get it repaired - was told the power lead was faulty and that all HDR make that humming sound - oddly...

Avoid the HDR1600T, I paid over $550 for this unit and will never purchase another TEAC again. TEAC had a bad name years ago, but I thought they might have lifted their game by now....I was wrong. Do NOT buy the HDR1600T nor any other TEAC product!

um, it's black and has nice shiny buttons?

Really poor unit, I have been putting up with the constant audio "popping" and picture "freezing" from this unit and then the constant complaining from my wife about the picture/audio quality for just on 13 months! If you're looking for a...

DONT buy TEAC, their service is non existent they don't reply to emails The CPU is very slow and certainly causes a lot of errors while the overheating and the ANNOYING huming hard disk is also very loud.

it has an "ok" picture with full HD.

Overheating is a BIG issue, we have plenty of ventilation but most of the time it simply fails to change channel, it fails to record (even with empty formatted HD) it hangs on changing channels etc etc. In general it is becoming a right royal pain. The...

Further to my earlier review, I finally sucumbed and sent the recorder off to be repaired, 2 months later I still have not got it back and have no idea when I will! TEAC provided hopeless aftersale service. Apparently waiting on new HDD. Repairer...

Still say that this product has great features.

only one thing, TEAC.

Good

Overall, very happy with the unit as I feel it was very good value, it does a great job of recording and the picture quality is excellent. But, very concerned about the heat issue. The unit does get very hot, and I hope TEAC addresses this issue.

Works very well, and performs recording as wanted. Was very easy to setup and go. Attached it to our Plasma with HD tuner, but I swear, the HDR1600T produced a far better picture. Looks excellent.

Bought the unit on Sunday from Dick Smith, the unit stopped working on the Wednesday night! Dick Smith changed the unit no problem. Suspect that considering other comments, it was a "heat" failure. We had left the unit on continually for the three...

Average machine if you get it at a bargain price. If you can live with the coms it is not a bad machine. Don't want to return it for a warranty claim as I will lose all my Top Gear episodes!!

Good easy to use device. Able to record 2 programs at once while watching a 3 recorded program. EPG and able to extend recording time to cater for program overrun.

Slow to change channels, gets hot and stops working so you have to switch it off, wait a minute and turn it back on to allow it to reset. If you try to chanv\ge channels too fast it jams uip and you have to reboot it. No way to copy recorded programs...
