hi Lou De Vere I just brought Opentel ODT4200PVRt 80GB and I'd like some help with a few things about upgrading it through my comp. my email is jono987@optusnet.com.au

It seems very small an easy to use so far, picture is clear as it's like watching a dvd. Notice the big difference between normal tv and digital.

Cheap and nasty. I recommmend spending more money or getting a better quality product with fewer features.

Cheap, dual tuner, big disk drive

Poor picture quality and frequently freezes. Cabling between tuners is overly complex.

The concept of dual tuners and 80gb hard drive with timeslip for little over $500 was quite appealing. It looked like unit would have met my expectations (been a good buy) except. I returned unit due to fault that developed in turner. I would have...

menus are clear and easy to use. Recorder doesnt get confused in any control modes. Timeshift is simple to use. Much better unit than the Kaon KTF-570H

could not rewind in timeslip. Unit developed a fault (could not find tuner) before doing my first time recording. Think the stress on rear terminals with the short stiff link cable may have contributed. Suspect a replacement unit would not have same...

I like it! I can now record tv with out tapes or discs, and the menu lists program mames and times of every thing I recorded

It has two tuners it gives you digital tv and a hard drive video recorder at the same time, all at a good price. It is also easy to program I worked most of it out in an evening. It has all the usual outputs apart from 5-1 audio

It would be better if it had a 5-1 audio output

This is my first Set Top Box with a built in Hard drive. Overall I am very impressed by the performance and ease of use. As I've already mentioned, the original software where you select tuner A & B manually is a real pain to use and is full of bugs....

Build quality. Small size. Great picture quality. Ease of use once the software revisions have been done.

The appalling software that came with the unit originally. Once this has been upgraded, the unit functions superbly. May be difficult for the average user to perform the upgrades because of the need for a null modem cable which may have to be built-up....
