CoffeeGeek - Pasquini Livia 90 - Ken Wallace's Review

I bought this Pasquini Livia 90 Semi Automatic from an EBay auction at a very good price. I had the machine sent to New Orleans (where I am working for an extended period of time) where it waited for a few weeks until I arrived. The machine was a...

Beautiful machine with powerful steam pressure, heats up quickly, large capacity

Difficult and expensive to service, controlling steam for micro-foam difficult

I currently have a ESE setup for my Livia 90 and I am interested in trading my portafilter and group head for a traditional portafilter and grouphead that would accommodate grinds. Please email me at

A great machine for espresso (when it works) though tricky for steaming; terrific tech support but not after warranty expires; delicate and quirky com

I bought this in May 2005 to upgrade from the Rancilio Silvia, my first "real" espresso machine (I don't count the parade of Krups thermoblocks, Saeco/Starbucks elementary pump/boiler machines and Capresso Ultima that came before and now inhabit my...

Fast warmup, powerful steaming, hot water tap, consistently good shots, pressure gauge, easy-fill tank

Requires bottled spring water (and different repair techs disagree on the brand--Cafe West recommends Crystal Geyser); steaming too powerful for included tips; shallow drip tray, often needs warming flush pre-pull; delicate and quirky computerized...

Worth every dime, and every dime I've spent on it since.

I decided to write this review because I've had my semi-auto Livia for two years and I noticed that many of the reviews available on the site were written after a realitively short period of acquantance with a new machine.

This is a fine piece of equipment. You can leave it on all day. With a water refill every other day my wife has all of the hot water she needs for her morning pot of tea, and I have access to beautiful espresso upon demand. Over time the Livia has...

At $1,000 or more, most of the peripherial equipment that's included with a new machine needs replacement or upgrade. This includes the plastic steaming tip, the tamper, and even the cheap plastic coffee scoop. The shallow, thin plastic drip tray began...

I couldn't be happier with this machine. I get great espresso any time on-demand.

When I decided to get an espresso machine I thought I would start out with a lower cost simple machine. I ordered a Gaggia Baby and when it arrived it was DOA. I sent it back and had some trouble with the importer fullfilling the order properly so I...

Heat exchanger so you can steam and brew with no waiting ; Fast warm-up time (less than 10 minutes) ; Large resevoir capacity ; Resevoir is easy to fill (Don't have to remove cups from cup warmer when filling!) ; Indicaters and controls are easy to use...

Drip tray is plastic and too small ; Attaching and locking the portafilter was awkward at first

25,000 shots later, still going strong.

This review updates a previous review posted more than four years ago.

Good cup with a skilled hand ; Wonderful durability ; Fast warm up ; Steam-power

Better machines entered the market place ; Drip tray too small ; Loud vibra pump ; Cannot fine-tune brewing temps to specific temperatures easily

Avoid Pasquini, and avoid Aabree Coffee Co.

Simple design. High pressure. Should be able to make a good espresso.

Design faults. Bad web vendors jobbing out to third parties. No QI. Dishonest service. Beware!

Style, quality and ease of use make this a winner

There have been many positive review written about the Livia and this is another.

Easy of use. Quality of build. Virtually unlimited capability

Could use a two hole steaming wand as standard item
