A great compact camera with a wide-angle lens, the FX38 has a few quibbles that prevent it from being an excellent point-and-shoot.

Sleek design ; Panasonic's intelligent auto mode ; HD-video recording ; 25mm wide angle lens

Power switch easy to accidentally turn on ; Finicky autofocus ; Some noise issues

For around AU$150 less, you could pick up the Canon IXUS 870IS which has a similarly wide lens (28mm) and fairly equivalent feature set, except without HD recording. Though if your heart is set on a Panasonic, the one advantage of the FX38 sharing so...

I have had this camera for about 2 years, and I still love it to death. It always takes great sharp pictures and is small and perfect to hide away. Its just as good as the day I brought it, and worth every cent. :)
